Large vintage brooch dating from the 1930s. This art deco filigree butterfly brooch features a intricate brass filigree metalwork (probably form the Gablonz area). The metal is in fantastic condition (I have seen similar brooches with discoloured areas but this is lovely. The brooch has a c clasp which features the stamp JO 381. We are not sure what this stamp means.
This is another classically good example of fabulous work of the Czech Gablonz metal artists. Let’s remind the world of the skill of the Gablonz people (in Bohemia before the war). It is light and large but the open design work makes it feel as light as areal butterfly.
The brooch weighs only 8 grams. It measures just over 8 cm at the widest wing span and and 4 cm wide. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
