This is an outstanding vintage necklace. This West German filigree necklace features gorgeous claw set emerald glass rhinestones set on silver tone filigree bases and adorned with lovely tiny pale green enamel flowers. These necklaces were made in Germany after the war let 40s and 50s and were thought to be the work of Czech jewellery makers who were from the Bohemia area. They are often mistaken for earlier Czech pieces. The necklace has several separate elements linked by chain and hangs beautifully around the neck.
This is a very unusual and rare version – both because of the fantastic fine enamel work and the excellent condition. Many of these lost their silver plating but the metalwork and the rhinestones are in amazing condition. This necklace also has an additional piece near the spring ring clasp which would sit at the back of the neck. This could be detached and used as a smaller pendant or to make the necklace shorter.
It is a lovely bib necklace that is very very special.
The necklace weighs 27 grams. It measures 44cm long and sits nicely around the neck. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
