Fantastic Scandinavian vintage pendant dating from the 1960s. This Rolf and Soleig Haukaas enamel copper pendant from Norway features an organic design in a lovely teardrop shape in bronze, yellow and red with a hint of blue. It is very like a Klimt painting with its little blocks in a random design. Like all of their work it has an incredible shine due to the guilloche technique that they use. The guilloche technique involves etching the copper surface before enameling which gives their work a lovely depth. The back has the makers mark which is a backward S and R as well as the words HÅNDARBEID BALESTRAND NORGE. The chain is a flat chain copper measuring 46cm and has a strong spring ring clasp. The necklace hangs nicely around the neckline.
There is a tradition of excellent Modernist design work in enameled jewellery from Norway and Scandinavia.
The pendant and chain weighs 16 grams. It measures 3 by 3.1 (at it’s widest) cm. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
