Beautiful Art deco vintage necklace from the 1930s. This Czech pastel vaseline glass flower necklace features round opaque glass beads in pink, blue and yellow pastel colours. The yellow beads are made of vaseline (uranium) glass which shows under ultraviolet light. It also features two clusters of flower beads which are very pretty and really gives this necklace a light and airy feel. The beads are linked together with brass chain link elements. There is a secure spring ring clasp.
The overall effect is very light and delicate with the pastel shaded beads and link elements. The necklace is in very good vintage condition with some slight tarnish to some of the brass.
Although not signed I’m pretty sure this is a Czech necklace from the Gablonz glass and metal craftspeople. It is such lovely work. A beautiful summery necklace. Uranium glass was made in the Gablonz region from the end of the 19th Century by adding a percentage of uranium within the coloured glass. The glass glows under a UV (ultraviolet light). See the photos to see how this necklace glows.
The necklace weighs 24 grams. It measures 44 cm and sits very nicely around the neckline. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
