Beautiful Art deco vintage necklace from the 1930s. This Czech Neiger filigree red glass necklace is not signed but is one of the classic ‘heavy filigree’ Neiger brothers designs. This necklace has a silver tone strong spring ring clasp leading to two filigree long connector elements, a single metal filigree bead, a single long filigree connector, a bright lipstick red filigree capped glass bead, another long filigree connector, metal bead , red bead, metal bead and centre red bead. The pattern is then replicated on the other side back to the clasp.
The necklace is in very good vintage condition with some slight wear to some of the metal filigree connectors. The metal is in great condition for its age and still has a lovely silver shine. It hangs around the neckline really nicely. See the photos of our model Eve to see what we mean.
The necklace is light and weighs 23 grams. It measures 39 cm. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
The most sought after jewellery produced in Gablonz was produced by the Neiger Brothers whose fine workmanship led the way for many of the Gurtler metalsmiths in Bohemia/ Czechoslovakia.
Max & Norbert Neiger were brothers who began making jewellery in 1900 and expanded to become world famous. They did not sign the jewellery and were copied a lot so many vintage sellers wrongly attribute designs to the Neigers. There are recognisable features of their work – not least the level of craftsmanship and quality of genuine Neiger pieces.
