Czech Neiger filigree blue glass necklace

Czech Neiger filigree blue glass necklace

£40.00

Out of stock

Beautiful Art deco vintage necklace from the 1930s. This Czech Neiger filigree blue glass necklace is not signed but is one of the classic ‘heavy filigree’ Neiger brothers designs. This necklace has a silver tone metal chain with a strong spring ring clasp and the bib begins with two small dark blue glass beads which are linked to a filigree connector. These connect alternating filigree capped blue glass beads with two metal filigree round beads.

The overall effect is very light and dainty as the filigree work is very fine. The necklace is in very good vintage condition with some slight tarnish to the filigree connectors. The metal is in great condition for its age and still has a lovely silver shine. On very close examination with a jewellers loupe the glass beads have a few nibblets around the filigree caps but this does not show at all. It hangs around the neckline really nicely. See the photos of our model Eve to see what we mean.

The necklace is light and weighs just 10 grams. It  measures 43 cm.  Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.

The most sought after jewellery produced in Gablonz was produced by the Neiger Brothers whose fine workmanship led the way for many of the Gurtler metalsmiths in Bohemia/ Czechoslovakia.

Max & Norbert Neiger were brothers who began making jewellery in 1900 and expanded to become world famous. They did not sign the jewellery and were copied a lot so many vintage sellers wrongly attribute designs to the Neigers. There are recognisable features of their work – not least the level of craftsmanship and quality of genuine Neiger pieces.
