Outstanding vintage necklace. This art deco chrome and glass necklace is in fabulous vintage condition. The necklace features a very delicate ‘chain’ of chrome metal links leading down to a simple and elegant set of glass beads strung on a strong chain. The beads include two small round chrome beads, two cone shaped faceted smoky black beads, two clear cut crystal rondelles and a stunning orange round bead in the middle. The simplicity of the design makes this necklace so beautiful. I have not seen one like this before. I think it was produced in the machine age with the chrome – which has kept its shine so well – and could well be German. It could actually be a Jakob Bengel design as he did use glass as well as Galaith – a casein based plastic similar to Bakelite. there are no marks on the necklace to identify the maker – it has a strong spring ring clasp.
The necklace exudes quality both in the manufacture, and the components. It is totally gorgeous and sits just beautifully around the neckline. I think it is from the 1930s.
It weighs 10 grams and measures 21.5 cm long.
Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
