Outstanding and rare vintage brooch. This 925 silver marcasite daisy brooch is absolutely gorgeous. The brooch can also be worn as a pendant as the brooch mechanism has a hoop to put a chain through. The brooch features 12 petals made of sterling silver and marcasite stones. In the centre of the brooch is a round green claw set stone. I think this is green onyx which was popular in the 1930s. It is incredibly shiny due to the marcasite stones which show up nicely within the silver aged patina. It is in excellent condition and I think it dates from the 1930s. The clasp is well made and features a rollover clasp which were machine made during the 30s. The pin comes out further than pins in later eras and feels really substantial. There is a 925 stamp on one of the petals on the back of the brooch. It is not missing any marcasite stones.
This is just so lovely and I have never seen another one like this – it is a very well crafted piece and looks great as a brooch or a pendant.
The brooch weighs 18 grams. It measures 4.5 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
