Wow – this is gorgeous. Fantastic Scandinavian vintage brooch dating from the 1960s. This Rolf and Soleig Haukaas red enamel copper brooch from Norway features a beautiful organic design and like all of their work it has an incredible shine due to the guilloche technique that they use. The guilloche technique involves etching the copper surface before enameling which gives their work a lovely depth. This is a round shaped brooch. The back has the makers mark which is a backward S and R as well as the words HÅNDARBEID BALESTRAND NORGE. The brooch pin is a secure ring safety catch.
This brooch makes me think of volcanoes with its fiery lava and gold touches which really stand out.
There is a tradition of excellent Modernist design work in enameled jewellery from Norway and Scandinavia.
The brooch weighs just 12 grams. It measures 3.9 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
