Outstanding vintage brooch dating from the early 1900s, This large Czech peking glass flower brooch is just divine in terms of quality and condition. It features a gorgeous large flat piece of pale green peking glass in the centre and is surrounded by the most exquisite silvered brass metalwork. The surround features finely crafted leaves and flowers in a wreath around the central stone. The flower centres have small green ‘moonshine’ or ‘moonstone’ cabochons that really do have a lovely glow about them. It has quite an arts and crafts feel but could be described as art nouveau and truly reveals the outstanding work of the Czech Gablonz metal artists. This is quite a rare brooch and I have seen it attributed to Max Neiger. Indeed the quality of the workmanship does lead to this conclusion.
The brooch has a sturdy c clasp pin is in fabulous condition for its age. It is quite a large statement brooch which would look fantastic on a big coat but it would also look fabulous on a bag or hat.
This brooch just makes your heart beat a little faster when you see it.
The brooch weighs 26 grams. It measures 6 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
