Stunning vintage brooch probably dating from the 1930s, This Czech filigree amethyst glass round flower brooch features tiny metal flowers with claw set pink paste round stones. The centre of the brooch features a deep dark amethyst glass round cabochon. The metal is a silver colour (so a bit different from the usual brass/gold colour. The silver metal filigree is very fine.l and this is a high quality brooch that has stood the test of time. It is simply gorgeous with it’s delicate flowers sneaking out over the edge of the filigree backing. It has a three dimensional shape and truly reveals the outstanding work of the Czech Gablonz metal artists.
The design is open work and the early model rollover clasp pin is in excellent condition. The only flaw is a scratch on the surface of the cabochon which doesn’t really show up when worn due to the shine of the glass.
This is an outstanding example of Czech craftmanship – and the purple and pink colours make it timeless. It would look good with anything.
The brooch weighs just 13 grams. It measures 4.5 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
