Czech filigree amber satin glass brooch

Czech filigree amber satin glass brooch

£30.00

Out of stock

Sweet vintage brooch probably dating from the 1920s or 30s, This Czech filigree amber satin glass brooch features  a lovely satin glass cabochon in the centre surrounded by a ring of claw set amber glass rhinestones or ‘stas’.  These are all set in a round filigree stamped surround which has tiny metal flowers with claw set amber glass round stones. The design is fairly simple with just the one filigree element but it is very well made. Some of the metal scrolls have tiny round dots which really stand out. It has a three dimensional shape and truly reveals the outstanding work of the Czech Gablonz metal artists.

The design is open work and it has a sturdy c clasp pin is in very good condition for its age. The back of the brooch shows some tarnish but the front metal  work is in good condition. The only flaw is a small dark fleck on the cabochon but this is within the glass itself rather than a result of damage. See the photos.

This is a lovely example of Czech craftmanship – and the amber glass and satin glass are always very popular. It is a fairly neat brooch.

The brooch weighs just 11 grams. It  measures 4.5 cm in diameter.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
