Beautiful vintage brooch probably dating from the 1910s, This Czech Edwardian gilt filigree amethyst glass brooch features a lovely oval cut claw set amethyst glass stone in the centre of a gold gilt filigree setting. Around the edge are four metal flowers each with a round rhinestone. two of the rhinestones are in amethyst glass and two are in topaz glass. The shiny gold filigree stamped surround is in fantastic condition for its age. It has a three dimensional shape and truly reveals the outstanding work of the Czech Gablonz metal artists.
The design is open work and it has a sturdy c clasp pin is in very good condition for its age.
This is a lovely example of Czech craftmanship – and the amethyst glass is always very popular.
The brooch weighs just 10 grams. It measures 4.7 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
