Beautiful vintage brooch dating from the 1910s. This Czech Edwardian filigree harlequin glass brooch features a lovely metal filigree flower in the centre with a green paste round stone In between each petal is a smaller stone in the multi-coloured harlequin glass ( red, green, orange and blue. Outside the central flower are larger petal shapes, some featuring the same claw set glass stones. All og the glass is claw set and the filigree work is fine and delicate in a gold tone brass metal.
It is a classically good example of fabulous work of the Czech Gablonz metal and glass artists. Let’s remind the world of the skill of the Gablonz people (in Bohemia before the war).
The design is open work and the back reveals the delicate filigree stamp. It has an early c clasp (which helps to date the brooch). It is an very good vintage condition with the odd bit of slight tarnish on the back.
The brooch weighs just 113 grams. It measures 5 cm in diameter. Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
