vintage brooch or pin

  • Outstanding vintage brooch probably dating from the 1950s.  This pressed glass floral green aurora borealis brooch features a floral bouquet with four flowers and two pressed glass leaves. The central flower features gorgeous aqua green  aurora borealis (AB) rhinestones surrounded by seven smaller AB stones. The pale green frosted glass leaves are delicate and beautiful.  All the rhinestones are claw set in a gold tone setting. This is a lovely brooch which has retained it's original beauty and is in excellent vintage condition. This leaves have an amazing glow which is a feature of the way the frosted glass is made. The design is open work and it has a sturdy rollover clasp which is also in very good condition. The brooch weighs just 10 grams.   • Lovely vintage brooch. This yellow enamel lily spray brooch is a fairly large statement brooch and probably dates from the 50s or 60s.  The brooch features gold tone metal leaves and yellow lily flowers. Lovely condition The clasp is very well made and features a secure rollover clasp. The brooch weighs 19 grams. It  measures 7.5 x 2.25 cm.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
  • Lovely nautical vintage brooch. This celluloid galleon brooch dates from the 1930s when celluloid jewellery was all the rage.  The brooch features a Spanish galleon ship with masts and multiple sails. There are not many of these around and they are often cracked or a bit rusty. This one is in lovely condition, There are no cracks or rust and the original greeny blue paint on the flags is still showing. It is very light. These brooches were meant to simulate bone or ivory. The clasp is very well made and features a c clasp closure. The brooch weighs only 3  grams. It  measures 4 x 4.2 cm.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag. Celluloid was one of the first plastics ever made and originally included camphor. After 1927 camphor was no longer used and was replaced by vinegar which was less flammable.
  • Lovely vintage brooch. This Scottish Gunn clan kilt pin is one of a series of sword pins with different clan mottos printed on. In excellent condition the pin has a secure clasp and is stamped on the back with the series number 31 and the word SCOTLAND. Made from lead free pewter. The clan motto Aut Pax Aut Bellum (either peace or war) is printed on the crest and the top features a thistle. 'Clan Gunn is a Highland Scottish clan associated with lands in northeastern Scotland, including Caithness, Sutherland and, arguably, the Orkney Isles. Clan Gunn is one of the oldest Scottish Clans, being descended from the Norse Jarls of Orkney and the Pictish Mormaers of Caithness.' - The kilt pin weighs 15 grams. It  measures 9 cm long x 3.6 cm wide.  Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.

The amber glass is amazing with frosted pressed glass petals, gorgeous rhinestone centres and the leaf has frosted edges on a marquise shaped stone and small rhinestone. All the stones are claw set in a gold tone setting. This is a high quality made brooch which has retained it's original beauty and is in excellent vintage condition. This brooch has an amazing glow which is a feature of the way the frosted glass is made. I have never seen another brooch like this. The design is open work and it has a sturdy rollover clasp which is also in very good condition. This is a lovely example of Czech craftmanship - and the amber glass is always very popular.   • Lovely vintage brooch. This enamel fish brooch has a lovely mix of autumn colours including orange, brown and gold. It also has a dark amethyst colour rhinestone eye surrounded by smaller clear rhinestones. Enamel fish brooches are often green but the colours in this one are quite unusual. The brooch is made of gold tone metal the the enamel is cold painted. The back features a strong rollover clasp. This is a quality brooch and is in excellent vintage condition. This antique Victorian turquoise glass brooch features a beautiful faux turquoise cabochon set in a gold tone metal setting, and surrounded by 21 tiny faux turquoise stones..  The overall shape is an oval and the smaller stones are claw set (so very little of the metal shows on the front).  The brooch is in very good vintage condition with no loose stones. This brooch is not signed but it is a good example of fabulous work from the Czech Gablonz metal and glass artists. They produced some excellent glass versions of gemstones with garnet, amethyst, amber, ruby and emerald being the most popular at the time. Turquoise glass like this was made by adding foil and this is a lovely example. The clasp is well made and is very secure.  It has a c-clasp and a hinged fixing, The pin extends beyond the edge of the brooch - as was customary for that time period. This JEWELCRAFT flower spray brooch  is a fairly large statement brooch and probably dates from the 50s or 60s.  The brooch features gold tone metal leaves and white faux pearl flowers with tiny turquoise cabochon centres. The clasp is very well made and features a secure rollover clasp. It is in excellent condition. On the back of the brooch is the Jewelcraft signature. This brooch was also made with rhinestone flowers but this pearl and turquoise version is so gorgeous and very 1950s. The brooch weighs 23 grams.   • Very sparkly vintage brooch. This red rhinestone bow brooch dates from the 50s or 60s.  The brooch features pave claw set red and clear rhinestones to create a lovely bow design. The metal is gold tone but does not show much - the rhinestones are the stars of this brooch.  The centre of the bow has a larger ruby red stone. The clasp is very well made and features a secure rollover clasp. It is in very good condition. The brooch weighs 16 grams. It  measures 5.5 x 2.7 cm.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag.
  • Sweet vintage brooch. This JEWELCRAFT bow brooch  is very cute and probably dates from the 50s or 60s.  The brooch features gold tone metal and cram cold paint enamel with tiny aurora borealis (AB) rhinestones along the ribbon. The centre of the bow has a larger twinkly aurora borealis stone. The clasp is very well made and features a secure rollover clasp. It is in good condition - with a few areas where the enamel is worn but does not show when worn. On the back of the brooch is the Jewelcraft signature. This is a very 1950s brooch with its bow design.. The brooch weighs 24 grams. It  measures 6 x 3 cm.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag. This SPHINX marcasite feather brooch  is very delicate and probably dates from the 50s or 60s.  The brooch is in the shiny silver style rather than the dark style of marcasite brooch. It is in very good condition and the stylised feather design is studded with shiny marcasite stones. The clasp is well made and features a rollover clasp. It is not missing any marcasite stones. On the back of the brooch is the SPHINX cartouche signature. This is a lovely timeless design and a light open brooch. The brooch weighs only 9 grams. It  measures just under 5 x 2.5(at it's widest) cm.   Presented in a beautiful satin drawstring bag. Sphinx is a British company 1948 – late 1990s and is quite collectable.
  • Stunning vintage brooch. This marcasite flower brooch  is so shiny.  It is rhodium plated and is the shiny silver style rather than the dark style of marcasite brooch. It is in fantastic condition and the stylised flower is very elegant. The brooch has a focal flower (maybe a lily or orchid) and two smaller daisy type flowers on leaf swirls. I am not sure of the date of this one. The clasp is well made and features a rollover clasp. It is not missing any marcasite stones. There is a tiny area on the back of the brooch where the plating has worn off, but the front and the marcasite stones are in great condition. This is a beautiful example of a genuine marcasite brooch with a wonderful flower design. A lovely gift for a loved one. The brooch weighs 19 grams.   • Delightful vintage brooch dating from the 1910s. This Czech Edwardian filigree topaz glass brooch features lots of lovely metal stamped flowers with a claw set oval topaz glass stone in the centre. Each flower centre has a small topaz rhinestone and these are surrounded by etched leaves. This beautiful brooch is set in a silver tonemetal. The front of the brooch is in fantastic condition for it's age . The back feratures a c clasp pin and some areas of the pin show some wear to the silver plating. It is a classically good example of fabulous work of the Czech Gablonz metal and glass artists. Let's remind the world of the skill of the Gablonz people (in Bohemia before the war). The brooch is fairly large but feels very light and the open design makes it not too heavy to wear. Such a beautiful piece to wear. The shape is roughly an oval shape or rectangle with soft corners.
