Good vintage condition 1960s Sarah Coventry Pinwheel brooch. This is a large statement brooch in siver tone metal in a pinwheel shape with a lovely faux pearl centre. The metal is very shiny in parts and features rope style finish on some of the pinwheel spokes. The pearl has no markes – one of the spokes has a tiny bit of wear on the metal.
Measures 6 cm in diameter. Weighs 29 g. Fastens with a secure rollover safety clasp.
The brooch is signed on the back CANADA with a copyright symbol and the words sarahcov. This is quite a timeless design. Sarah Coventry jewellery is recognised as high quality and is very collectable. This brooch looks fantastic on a jacket lapel. It is very ‘MADMEN’.
Presented in a satin drawstring bag
Despite the ‘designer’ name Sarah Coventry vintage costume jewellery is not made by one designer. Sarah Coventry was the name of a company based in the US (1949 – 1980s) who had emigrated from Coventry in England, UK. They employed different designers to produce their jewellery. They adopted a method similar to Avon in that they used house parties to sell their ranges “for the woman who dares to be different.”
