Stunning vintage bright blue aurora borealis pinwheel brooch, probably dating from the 1950s or 60s. It is in a gold tone metal colour with a c clasp fastening which has been soldered to the back of the brooch. The AB aurora borealis rhinestones were popular in the 50s and make this brooch very sparkly and pretty. The star of the show are the stunning bright blue marquise shaped crystals. The design features a central circle made up od a single blue stone surrounded by 18 aurora borealis rhinestones. There are 16 spokes and each one ends with the blue stones. The rhinestones are claw set which points to the quality of the brooch and it also has a delicate chain and pin which helps to make the brooch more secure when worn. This chain can be removed if not wanted.
Measures 4cm x 4cm diameter. Weighs 11 grams. It would look great on a formal jacket but equally good with less formal wear and small enough to be worn on a jumper or dress. I would describe this piece as in excellent condition.
