Amethyst and pearl long necklace

Amethyst and pearl long necklace

£65.00

In stock

Handmade necklace by Lou McGill. This amethyst and pearl long necklace features a range of brand new amethyst beads and up cycled creamy faux pearls from a vintage necklace. The creaminess of the pearls emphasises the deep violets in the amethysts. They are a perfect match. Perfect for a bride with something old and something new. The necklace features two sizes of round pearls and three sizes of round amethyst beads. It also has small Japanese amethyst glass seed beads and a gorgeous feature faceted amethyst teardrop. The style is slightly Edwardian but also has a bit of a modern twist as there are two asymmetrical  strands coming our of the teardrop. Both have beads but one of the strands features a sterling silver cage charm with a real creamy freshwater pearl trapped inside. The necklace is truly unique and quite a statement piece to wear. It is also fairly heavy but is made with strong professional quality beadalon wire. The design means that there is no catch or fastener – it simply fits over the head and is very long – with the ends sitting over the tummy area.

There are some matching earrings sold separately made with the same amethysts and pearls.

Some people believe that gemstones possess special qualities that impart their effects on to the wearer. The amethyst is said to promote happiness, peace, love, healing, courage and intelligence. It is meant to promote peaceful sleep and pleasant dreams. It is also thought to help bring clarity and help with studying.

The necklace measures over 50 cm from the top to the bottom (so full length with the strand would be 1 meter). It weighs 94g.

Presented in a satin drawstring bag.
